But hey, I guess I can at least give something of an update on my life:

I'm moving.

If you've known me/talked to me for a long while, I may or may not have mentioned that the area I live in is not exactly great to be around. Certainly, there's worse areas to live in, and I'm in no active danger, but things that've happened over the years here have largely contributed to my more shut-in lifestyle and are a major source of my regular anxiety. It's why I can't sleep at night with no lightsource on and why I feel wary when answering the door. It's why I get nightmares sometimes about someone staring at me through the window. It sucks.

Both my dad and I have wanted to move for years now-- he's likely wanted to move since the same incident that caused me to want to stay inside, but it was just not viable. As he's now engaged (hooray!), we could now pool our money into moving into a new house. I finally got to see the place in fact last week-- it's all bought.

The cons here of course is that I'll no longer having a swimming pool, which kiiiinda sucks, but there's valid alternatives at hand. There's places for swimming and swim classes within a decent driving distance, so I might be able to figure out a bus route.

But also, the place needs a lot of fixing up.

The pros though-- and specifically why we pushed to buy the place despite the issues that had to be addressed-- is that the area is fantastic. A lot of things within a 5-10 minute walk. The zoo is right nearby. The neighborhood is pleasant. It's quiet. It's really quiet. The area I'm in right now is subject to crazy parties that go on to 2AM (bad bad bad) and airplanes going over from close by. We'll have a dog that's a huge lovebug but is also a breed that most people would not mess with in terms of approaching. In general, it's a lot more for me that we're moving to this area, because it's made to feel safer and have more opportunities for me to do things during the day instead of lazing around.

I really hope that in general, this works out for us. It's a lot of work to get the place up to our "standard", but there's a lot I like about it in general. I'm thankful we were able to get the place in spite of a lot of difficulties on the sellers parts (and their lawyer especially).

Current plan is that I'll be moving in fully in the first week or two of November, so fingers crossed.
